Founded 18 years ago by Dr. John W. Boys Smith, Boys Smith Vision Center blends state-of-the-art technology and equipment, with a friendly knowledgeable staff of eye care professionals who strive for personalized doctor-patient care. This combination ensures that each patient visit is a rewarding experience. Always striving for excellence, we take patient eye care to a new level.

Dr. Boys Smith spent much of his professional life in university positions, both teaching and practicing his specialty in glaucoma. In 1991, seeking the mountains and to be able to have a practice where his patients will come first, he moved to Washington state and started a small practice in Kittitas Valley, a beautiful agricultural land located between the Cascade mountains and the Columbia River. Boys Smith Vision Center is located in Ellensburg, a university community, known for its rodeo and friendly people.

In order to provide patients with a full spectrum of eye care, Boys Smith Vision Center later expanded, adding an optical branch along with an on-site optical laboratory and an array of frame styles from designer frames rarely seen outside metropolitan areas to very affordable and conservative frame styles.

The optical itself and the building has been designed to capture the beauty of light. Finished in 2004, its advanced technology is evidenced throughout, as is the knowledge and expertise of its eye care professionals in using this technology for the patient's benefit.

The Boys Smith Vision Center was the first eye clinic in the Northwest and only the 5th on the West Coast to use the Optos system for undilated retinal scans. In this spirit, the practice continues to bring Central Washington the most up to date, comprehensive eye care available today, with onsite lasers, refraction systems, and an array of high tech diagnostic systems.
